Thanks for the feedbacks... nothing in the log from the hung chkdsk's.
Oh well, I chalk this one up to power blips that caused power off
without flushing (synch) to disk.

P.S> here's the next successful chkdsk. Note that the chkdsk took
several hours on this 40G disk of which most all is used.
