I checked all the solutions for XP, and I tried (I suppose ) all of them, but
I still cannot get chkdsk /f to work when I boot Vista Ultimate. Anyone?

I have indeed tried to get chkdsk /f to run in safe mode (command prompt) but
I get the meaasge that I do not have the access rights to run chkdsk /f

Hi, I had regcure installed for the past 4 months, and I run this regularly.
I have also tried with registry mechanic - did not make any difference. I had
'Fix-it' installed (up to yesterday). It could well be possible that my hard
disk is set to protective by that program?

Hi Brink,
1. So far I have tried the registry entry change - no luck
2. I downloaded the file 6.0.6001.18000 and replaced Autochk.exe and tried
to get chkdsk to run at startup - no luck ( the file on my computer was a
originally a different size (627K and the date was 1/20/2008 as opposed to
the file I downloaded 716K and 1/19/2008)
3. I ran sfc /scannow and I got the message that Windows found a corrupt
file (CBS.log) and repaired it. then Chkdsk again and Jippie it WORKED!!
Thanks for all your help

Run As Administrator is not on the context menu for the Run icon. I think
he would have to send the shortcut to the desktop and set it to run
elevated. I don't recall any details on doing that but Mick or somebody
probably does.
