I ran CHKDSK from the command prompt and it fixed a number of errors.
However, I received the message that " WIndows found problems with the
file system. Run CHKDSK/F to correct these."

What is a problem with the file system?

Question: How did you run CHKDSK?

Running CHKDSK without the F switch will not fix any problems, refer to the
following KB article for a detailed explanation. Type the following in the
Command Prompt for CHKDSK to fix disk problems:

chkdsk /f
