chg from NT Serv domain to workgroup on Win XP Pro

I added 3 new computers using Win XP Pro. Previous
computers were on Win 98 connecting to a server on NT
4.0. In order to transfer data from old server to one of
the new computers, I added one of the new computers to
the NT domain. Now I'm unsure how to remove the domain
restrictions off the new computer. I have successfully
set up a new workgroup on the 3 new computers and they
are seeing each other on the network. But they cannot
access data (don't have permission) from the new server.
It is still being overridden by the domain restrictions
from NT. I can't even access the new server from NT
server when signed on as administrator. Admin & domain
admin are set up as full access, but it still wants a
password for access. I'm not a savy IT pro & have been
floundering w/ NT Server ever since trying to be the
Administrator ever since my nephew set it up for our
small business. I know it's some access permission in NT
Server that needs to change, but not sure what it is.

You need to add the other two PCs to the domain and
youneed to set the data folder to "shared"

If you intend to get rid of the domain, the only way to
do that is to start from scratch. You cannot delete a
primary domain.

Good luck!

You have mentioned a "new server" but only once.
What is this, a new domain to replace the NT 4 ?
NT 4 domain does not change its client machines
very much, although it can if system policies are
in use. On the NT 4 domain controller try running
poledit.exe and look to see it it is enforcing any
policies.
To get the machines into a workgroup, just disjoin
them from the domain and give them the same name
for the workgroup.
For a workgroup machine to access resources on
another machine or on any machine within the domain
the user of the workgroup machine will have to use
an account on the machine (or a domain account) that
is sharing out the resource. One needs to grant the
account(s) that will be used to access the resource
permissions on what is being shared out.
Perhaps if you describe a little where you are at now,
what machine is "the new server", what is being shared
out from where, and what machines need to be used to
access those resources.
