Checking whether a product key has been used

Hi,

We have a lot of copies of WinXP Pro in the office and
unfortunately they have got muddled up and we no longer
can tell which are activated and which aren't.

Short of just trying them out and seeing which ones stick,
is there anywhere I can check the product keys to see if
the product has been activated or not?

Thanks!

I'm a little confused. If you want to see what the WPA is on each machine then get a handy little tool called ViewKeyXP. It's free. Aida32 will also give you the key. If you want to know if the disk is activated it isn't the Machine and OS are. The key isn't on the CD it's in your windows\system32 and it's called wpa.dbl You can copy this to a floppy and then label each machine and label the floppy the same and then you won't have to worry about reactivation. If you have to reinstall XP go ahead and do so and bypass the activation process and once you are done copy the wpa.dbl off the floppy and back into windows\system32. Good luck.

Go to www.aida32.hu and download AIDA32, The Enterprise Edition. It is free
and will give you the Product Key on the computer, plus a load of other
info. You will need to install it on each computer. (Copy the download to
each computer)

You don't actually have to install it. You can put it on a CD and run it
from there without installing.

Thanks for the advice! I guess I will have to inventory
all the computers we have here, to see which Product Key
has been loaded on each.

I swear, I'll never let it get into this sort of a mess
again!

Thanks everyone.
