Checking A USers Internet Proxy

Hi ,

I am an admin at a small business and I need to know how to access a users
internet explorer settings to view wether their proxy is set up properly. I
would like to do this either locally or remotely.

I have searched the internet but can't find a soloution. The reason I want
to know this is that we run Gaurdian proxy so that we can monitor our users
but you can disable it be entering another proxy because our firewall isnt
yet correctly configured. I know you can view it in the registry but you can
only view your own i.e. current user. Just wondered if there was a file I
could edit in their profile?

Any help would be appriated.

What you want to do is to use Group Policy to manage the proxy setting and
then use Group Policy to hide the connection setting from the user so that
they can not change it back which can easily be done with XP Pro in an
Active Directory domain or via Local Group Policy [gpedit.msc] assuming
users are not local administrators also who could change Local Group Policy
settings. The links below explain more. --- Steve

--- in your case you want to use the actual IP address of the proxy

sure you implement this.
