With file explorer open, I right click on the C: drive, select
properties, click on the Tools tab, select Check Now under Error
Checking, check both check boxes, click Start, and select Yes to the
window that pops up asking to schedule the check upon the next boot.
When I reboot, it does not seem to run and boots right into the custom
shell immediately. I also tried running chkdsk.exe from the command
prompt with the same results. I have the FAT/NTFS Common Format/Tools
Files component included as well as the Task Scheduler. I searched the
newsgroup for "Check Disk" and read every posting about the subject,
but still got no insight.
I am wondering if perhaps it won't appear to run if there are no
problems with the disk? I read that it won't create the log file if it
does not encounter any problems. Normally when check disk is run,
before the shell gets loaded a light blue screen (not the BSOD)
displays the status of chkdsk and it seems to go through 4 or 5 steps.
That is what I am not seeing in XPe.
