Cheap printer for occasional color

Wraith

Our office bought an Epson C80 just over a year ago, to be used for
occasional color printing. (We have lasers for everyday B&W.) Over the
summer, it was used very little, if at all. Now it won't print at all,
with cartridges about 50% full. Tried all the tools in the Epson
utilities, tried new black cartridge, updated driver, but with no
luck. Blank pages every time. I assume the print heads are clogged
'unfixably'. It's probably going to be cheaper to just replace the
thing than try get it repaired.

What we need something:
a.) cheap (we paid a little over $100 for the Epson, so no more than
that)
b.) decent color (doesn't have to be super-high quality)
c.) reliable, even if used very little
d.) hopefully cartidges that aren't too expensive, don't run dry too
fast when unused (probably not interested in refilling)

Maybe that's hoping for too much, but I'm open to suggestions. I don't
really want to get another Epson, or at least Epsons with the same
print heads.

Check out canon printers that uses the BCI24 series refills. ink volume is
relatively smaller, printhead is not known to have any clogging problems and
is modular, which means it can be replace by user.

if i'm not wrong, i3xx, i4xx series uses these refills.

My c80 did the same thing. It's in pieces now at the bottom of my
trashcan outside. I've given up on Epson.

There are not unfixable (cloggeded) print heads. It is just a matter of
know how.

Well then, it's that I don't know how to do it myself. I'm no printer
guru, but I've done what I can think of or could find online, and it's
not worth hiring someone to repair it. If anyone knows of a site with
good instructions for fixing a badly clogged Epson print head, I could
give it a shot.

Well, they decided we don't need the printer enough to replace it.
So I guess if there's anything I can do with the Epson, I can try it,
but there's no real rush, since it doesn't have to be replaced.
