Chart defaults?

Can I assign standard chart defaults, such as Font, Area Fill, and Legend
position? I know this can be done using User Templates and Macros, but I
would like to avoid going that extra step. Thanks.

Yes,

Use the Chart menu to set a user defined chart.

Select a chart that's formatted the way you want your default charts to
look.
From the Chart menu, choose Chart Type
Click on the tab - Custom Types.
At the bottom left, select User Defined.
Click the Add button.
Type a name for your new chart style, click OK
To make this the default chart type, click the Set as default chart button
Click OK.

To create a chart style based on a your new style:
Select the data and labels for the chart.
Click the Chart Wizard button on the toolbar.
Click the Custom Types tab, and select User Defined.
Select your chart type, then click Next.
Continue through the wizard, then click Finish.
