Characters missing When using Shortcust in Outlook 2003 and SP2

Hi,

I'm using the Shortcut button to display my folders in Outlook. However, it
appears to cut off characters from the end of folder names or indeed any name
used as a shortcut. Even if I use small a mounts of characters i.e. "Inbox"
will appear "Inbo" another example "Sent Items" might appear "Sent It"

Longer names will loose more than one or two characters

Any ideas how to resolve this. I'm using 2003 and SP2

You mean Shortcuts Navigation?
Does the same happens when you rename a folder?
By what method do you add the folders?

Hi Roady,

Thanks for your response. To answer your questions.

Yes it is in the Shortcuts Navigation pane.
It will happen even if I re-name the folder or whatever the object is that
has been added as a shortcut and to both the Group name or the actual
shortcut name. Both of these can loose characters.

I add them simply by clicking the either "Add New Group or Add New Shortcut"
If it is a group I'm adding I have typically typed no more than two words
for a group heading name. For Example "Ashley Websites" maybe a heading, then
under this I have added the shortcuts that are already in my main Mail or
other PST folders.

If I re-start Oulook the problem appears to correct itself for a short time
until I navigate through either the Calendar or Contacts and then this is
where the characters start to disappear. Then I re-start Oulook and then the
characters will re-appear.

I have also re-installed Outlook + ALL the associated fixes, but still the
problem persists.

Please advise if you require any further information

Thanks and Regards

Do you get the same behavior when you try it with a different mail profile?
You can start Outlook with the /resetnavpane switch but keep in mind that
this will clear all your Navigation Pane customizations.
You might want to backup your xml-file for your profile first. By default
this is located in;
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Yes I have completely deleted the account and profile and created a new one
as well as removing Office and re-installing and it and still the problem
re-occurs.

I don't have a xml-file in the location you specified? I do recall seeing
one when I was testing Oulook 2007? Interestingly I never saw this problem on
Outlook 2007 which I tested for a a couple of months..? Obviously I can't
use this version until it is out on full release as well as the Beta one
seems unstable in other ways (Crashes a lot)
