changing terminal services default port 3389

M

Myles Duffy

Is it possible to change to default port (I pretty sure it is 3389) that
terminal services listens on?

We have to use port forwarding on a firewall router and we would like to set
up a test / beta terminal services server behind this and port forward a
different TS port to our test / beta terminal services server.

Thanks,
Myles

In found this in the Terminal Services FAQ:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/community/centers/terminal/terminal_faq.mspx

Q. What port does RDP use? Does everything go over that port?

A. By default, RDP uses port 3389 for all of its traffic. There are
instructions in the Microsoft Knowledge Base
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q187623 for
how to change this port.
