Changing References in an MDE file

Is it possible to change references in an MDE file? I have an MDE database
that only works with MDAC 2.5, and my PC has both 2.5 and a newer version on
it. The MDE is automatically referencing 2.6, but the original programming
(and controls) require 2.5. Is there any way for me to alter registry
entries, or reference the old MDAC using a separate instance of MS Access?

I'm using MS Access 97 on Win98SE, and I don't have access to the MDB file
that creates this MDE. However, the MDE is required for the work I do, so
it's lack of functionality has put me in a difficult place.

Thank you,
Anthony

You cannot change references in an MDE, but I have never heard of your
situation either where controls and/or code only work in an older version
of MDAC. What exactly are you doing?

MDE's don't actually reference MDAC's. An MDAC is a collection
of components that are distributed together, and an MDE may
reference some of those components, not the installation
package.

Do you know which Data Access Components are referenced? And
do you know which are apparently causing problems?
