changing logon hours

L

Lukas L

Is there a way to change the logon hours on a bunch of
users at once? I have 250 users and I need to change the
logon hours on all of them. The change will be consistant,
but I was hoping there's a way to automate the task.

Thanks.

Yeah, actually I think the best way is AD Users and Computers, if you have
the adminpack for windows server 2003. How ever, click the domain node,
click find, and find at the window. you should now get a nice list of all
users and groups in your domain, select them and right click and then click
properties.

Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack (can handle multiple objects):

Lukas,

This post is a general post and not necessarily directed to your specific
situation ( changing 'available logon hours' for your 250 users ). The
purpose of me posting the following information is so that when you have a
similar situation ( making the same change to multiple accounts ) you might
have a few more tools available to you....

In addition to what Chriss suggested, take a look at several other tools
that are available to you when doing this sort of thing ( making the same
change to multiple accounts ).

One such tool is a utility called ADModify written by two Microsoft
employees. It is a great tool and will really save you a lot of time and
headache. I believe that version 1.5 is the current version but version 2.0
will be coming out when they have it ready. You can download this awesome
tool at the following link:

ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/PSS/Tools/Exchange%20Support%20Tools/ADModify/

There are a couple of other native tools to WIN2000: ldifde and csvde.
ldifde makes use of .ldf files ( if you have every watched an Exchange 2000
/forestprep process then you have seen the ten .ldf files that are used )
and is very powerful. csvde is another tool that allows you to make use of
Excel spreadsheets. ldifde is my personal favorite but has a very
unforgiving syntax so it takes a little time to get that down.

There is also scripting - but that is more advanced....

HTH,

Cary
