I emailed Microsoft customer service with the following scenario. They told
me It was not possible. I don't know if the understood that I have the valid
retail version of the disks in hand. Can someone read the following and tell
me what my options are? Thank you for reading.
I have 2 computers. System 1 has a valid retail copy of XP Pro. System 2 has
a running but invalid copy of XP Pro Corporate. I have removed the valid copy
of XP from System 1 (it will no longer run XP) and would like to use the key
code to replace the invalid key code on System 2 without having to reload the
entire CD so that I do not chance disturbing the rest of the software on the
system.
So, my question is. Can I and how do I proceed to change the good key code,
no longer used in system 1, for the bad key code in system 2 without
reloading the entire package and then registering it. Also, will the message
go away that my software is invalid after the changing of the key code?
