Changing Directories on local disks VERY slow

I

Iain

I work with a half a dozen machines located locally or remotely.

I use local disks a lot and drag and drop to copy files around.

The actual file transfer is generally quick, but navigating between the
directories on the local disk can be VERY VERY slow.

I mean it can take minutes. It's worse on remote machines (across and ADSL
line) than it is on machines on the local network, but it's still noticably
slow and much worse than the equivalent navigation within a file share.

Is this a configuration problem or a know issue? It's very annoying!

I case it wasn't clear from the original post, this is with Remote Desktop.
MOst of the remote machines are servers, mainly running W2K3 server.

Has anyone else experienced this?
