Changing default folders that open up when adding background sounds, pictures

When I more quickly add sound or color to a document in Word, or OE? Now,
and forever, when I click on, say, Format/Background/Sound my Drive opens to
the "Background Sound" but its the Media folder (tones/sounds, not
midi/wavs, etc), which I never use. Then, I have to find My Documents, and
open My Music (for example). If I want to insert a graphic I've stored in My
Pictures, the default is to hit Browse and "Background Picture" window is my
Stationery folder, not My Pictures. Is there any way to avoid these apparent
default selections?

I have XP Pro, Service Pack 2, OE 6.+++, 1 year old desktop computer,
adaptive equipment (visually-impaired user).

Thank you.

The last saved location is used as default (if the program doesn't specify one). But
you can add items to left side(places bar) so that you can browse quickly to the
folder you want. To add/change items in places bar :

- - Windows Home/Pro - -
1. Download and install TweakUI *
2. Open it.
3. Left Side, Expand "Common Dialogs" then click "Places Bar"
4. Right side, select "Custom Places Bar" radio button then choose the item from the
drop-down list. You can enter a folder path by typing in the box.
5. Click OK

"Administrative Templates",
"Windows Components",
"Windows Explorer",
"Common Open File Dialog"
4. Right side, double click "Item displayed in Places Bar".
5. Select Enable radio button, then enter the paths.
