Changing an "event" to an appointment

B

Ben K. Bullock

On the Outlook today screen, I have some things which should be appointments
listed as events (excuse me if the terminology is wrong, I'm using a foreign
language version of the software, but "event" is something like a birthday,
and "appointment" is something from 10.00 to 11.00 which isn't a meeting).

My problem is that the things which are supposed to be "events" are actually
"appointments", and they are registered correctly on the schedule with
starting and ending times, but I can't seem to change the display of the
"Outlook Today" view to show them as appointments. Is there a way to change
this? Also, because they are registered as "events" on the Outlook Today
screen, the one for today is already thought of as finished and the "next
appointment" marker is pointing to tomorrow's things.

I'm sorry if the above is confusing, I hope someone can make sense of it.

Thanks for any guidance on this.

G'Day Ben,

Open one of these "events".

Just to the right of the "Start time:" boxes (Date, Time), there is
a check box "All day event" - this should NOT be checked for
an appointment.

Are you using a custom Appointment Form? If so, it may have
been saved (in error) with the box checked.

They are repeated appointments, but I don't see anything like the "All day
event" on there.

No, just the normal thing. I'm not sure how it became an "event" on the
"Outlook Today" view.

Ben,

What version of Outlook?

I am using Outlook 2002 (Japanese version).

I don't know if more details will help, but today I have an appointment at
13.00 and the times show up correctly when I click on it on the "Outlook
Today" screen, but on the "Outlook Today" it shows up as just an "all day
event" without the start and finish time. My other appointments are showing
correctly.

Thanks for any help with fixing this.

G'Day Ben,

If I have understood:
In Outlook Today you see an All Day Event.
If you click on the link, it opens showing the correct day AND times.
There is no check box to the right of the Start Time, OR there is
one but it is unchecked.
If you view it in the Calendar, it is located in the middle of the day,
as a standard appointment with the correct times.
It is a recurring appointment.

I can not reproduce this, although I am using OL 2003 (English).

I have two suggestions:

1. Use the Inbox repair tool to ensure your PST file is not corrupt.
You need to know the location of the PST file:
Right-Click "Personal Folders", choose properties.
Click the "Advanced..." button - note the path/filename.
Click "Cancel" (twice).
Close Outlook.
The Inbox repair tool is called SCANPST.EXE and, on my
System, it is in:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033

2. Delete the recurring appointment, and recreate it from scratch.
