Link your table under another name. Create a new query, name it like the
old linked table. Rename the columns to the old column names.

Not really, you may take a look at the tools from fmsinc.com. They may
help...

There are two third-party products that do this and get good reports.

(1) Rick Fisher's Find & Replace, http://www.rickworld.com, shareware, try
it free for 30 (I think) days, all updated through Access 2003, but I don't
know about Access 2007.

(2) Speed Ferret, http://www.moshannon.com, commercial software -- note,
this one has not been updated so you will have to have Access 2002 or
earlier installed to use it -- I've used and liked it in the past, but not
being able to run it with Access 2003 has kept me from making good use of
it, recently.

i found this util but what is the difference in access 2003
and access XP?

Access 2002 (aka XP) and 2003 have a common file format, and both can save
the database as an Access 2000 file format, as well. Generally, you will
not have difficulty executing a database created in 2003, using Access 2002,
and vice-versa.

However, Speed Ferret apparently checks the version number of Access being
used in the Database and will not run with Access later than 2002. As to
the one you reference, I don't know anything about it.

If you download it, and try it, please post back here to let us know what
you think of it.

I've had good reports (as well as knowing first-hand, from personal
experience) that the FREE V-Tools Total Deep Search works for everything but
in data. It will replace any text for any object or property in the db, but
it will not change data.
