Changes to keyboard @ and " keys

Hi, I recently had to reinstall vista (too many problems to mention!) but now
it has switched my @ # " | keys when the shift key is pressed.
I only want to return them to what they were before and have tried
installing the english keyboard but that hasn't helped.
Any advice you can give that will stop me tearing out any more hair will be
gratefully received!
Cheers Browning

Go to Regional and Language in Control Panel and select the appropriate
keyboard language. After doing that and rebooting, you can then go back and
remove the keyboard language which is NOT appropriate..

Thanks to you both. I had already tried that, but it would not let me
remove the US keyboard.
In view of all the other problems I had, I decided to go right back to
the delivery settings by clicking on F8 whilst its reloading.

I've got to reinstall everything again, but this sorted the problem and
I'll be able to see if it solves any of my other problems; ie, laptop
running really slowly, not allowing me to install bluetooth or webcam drivers
and giving me errors on almost everything I do!

Thanks for your help and any advice on any of the above also gratefully
received!

You can only remove the US keyboard after installing another language,
setting the preferred language as the default AND then rebooting. You can't
remove the language in use..

Hi Mike,
Yes, I had already installed the uk keyboard, but it would not let me delete
the US one.
