Changed homepage and unwanted bookmarks

Hi,

I have a problem of my homepage being set to one search website,
"http://www.vroomsearch.com/" (even after resetting it to default homepage)
and there are a few unwanted bookmarks that would just reappear even after
deleting them several times.

Tried to scan my systems and found several files of "adware threat" in
nature and deleting them failed.

Need help, have been trying to solve this for a few days now such as
downloading and running a few programs such as "cwshredder", "spybot",
"easycleaner". Also, tried to manipulate the registry files but am not too
sure how.

Thanks in advance.

Alright I'm not sure if this will help much, but it works for me whenever I
have this problem. I just go to the control panel, add or remove programs,
and delete any unwanted popup programs such as zSearch or EbatesRealMoney...
Ya know bullcrap stuff you don't want on your computer. Delete those, and
then instead of putting your homepage back to its default, put it on yahoo or
lycos. I know they're not great, but you can always go to the default page
after you get on the internet. Hope it helps, I'm not positive it will.

Another effective program for particularly stubborn spyware is Hijack this.
Need to be careful how you use it though, it will only tell you whats there
and won't automatically delete anything. You have to decide whats legit and
what is not. There are websites around where you can post what it comes up
with to and people will analyse them for you, if you wanna trust complete
strangers with that sort of thing, personally, I worked it out for myself
without too many stuff ups!
HTH :)

Is your adware the newest SE version ?
If not reinstall the latest free version.

Go to hijackthis.com and download it.

post a log to their tech forum and they can help you
solve the problem.

Don't open Scr files from newsgroups.
