Change Track Changes default options

Track Changes defaults to tracking format changes as well as substantive
ones. Is there a way to change the default to not track format changes so it
doesn't have to be changed each time I use Track Changes?

You can try turning it off in the normal.dotm template, and some
people find that it sticks. I find that it turns itself back on
anyway.

Are you using Word 2007? Then you can do this, sort of (meaning that it
doesn't necessarily prevent *all* format tracking, but it does improve the
situation): Open your template and turn off the format tracking (Review tab |
Track Changes | Change Tracking Options). When you are done, save and close
the template.

Note that unless you have chosen a specific template, you are probably using
Normal.dotm, which you can open via the Open dialog box (press Ctrl+O; in the
dialog box, click Trusted Templates, select Normal, and click the Open
button).
