Change to default file location in PPT 2003 lost on reboot

A change to the default file location is saved upon exiting / restarting PPT
2003 but is lost upon reboot.

Any suggestions for how to retain the default file location setting after
reboot?

Thanks.

We are setting the file location using "tools / options / save / default
file location" in PPT.

All other settings (OS settings, other application's specific settings), are
retained on reboot.

Only PPT loses its default file location setting.

Thanks.

Have a look here in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\RecentFolderList

Look for the nominated path in the Default REG_EXPANDSZ item
That's Default and not (Default)

Does the user have permission to write there?

The nominated path appears in the Default REG_EXPANDSZ item under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\RecentFolderList
..

User is the system administrator so permission to write to the nominated
path should not be a problem?

Sure appreciate the suggestions.

You're right, it shouldnt' be a problem. Hmm. If you look at that reg entry
after they've started PPT up and quit again, has it been reset to something
else?
