change from 15" to 17" monitor gives smaller hotmail page.

jw 111

when i open some web sites in IE, although the IE window occupies the
'whole screen' the contents of the web page sometimes only occupies half of
the width of the 'total' IE page.

this is not a simple resizing or changing the size of the web site page.

for instance when i open hotmail account page the hotmail page now takes up
about 60% of my 17 inch monitor. ( the IE page still fills the total
monitor screen though).

before when using 15 inch monitor the hotmail account page would fill the
whole screen.

is this normal ? or does my 17 inch monitor need some adjustment for the
hotmail page to fill the whole monitor screen

thanks for any advice

Right-click an empty space on your desktop and click on Properties. On the
settings tab adjust your screen resolution appropriately.

I'm guessing that, when you switched to a 17" monitor, you also
increased the display resolution. E.g. instead of having a resolution
of 800x600, perhaps you now have 1024x768.

The problem is that a lot of websites are designed to be a certain fixed
width, e.g. 750 pixels, and so do not take up the whole width of the
display of higher resolution monitors.
