Certificate of Authenticity

I recently picked up a copy of Windows XP Pro, SP2 (upgrade version) from
CompUSA. It came with a rebate offer that requires one to send in the UPC
label found on the box. Not a problem, but MS puts the UPC right in the
middle of its Certificate of Authenticity, so I'm assuming that they would
want the whole certificate label. Would I need this certificate in the
future for any reason, other than getting a rebate that is? Thanks in
advance.

Gordon;
No, you will not need the label from the box ever.
What you will need is the COA on the orange label on the back of the CD
case.

First, be very careful about rebates from CompUSA. They're in trouble
with the US FTC because of NOT honoring rebates from consumers. If
the rebate is being offered by MS, then you have nothing to worry
about.

As for your question: You probably will not need the actual COA for
anything later on. It should be OK to cut out the UPC bar code along
with the COA and send it along with your rebate paperwork.
