I am not sure if this is the right news group. Recently I stopped
Certificate Authority. When I tried to start Certificate Authority I
received the error message "Certificate Services did not start: Could not
build CA certificate chain for Example Issue CA. A certificate chain
processed correctly, but terminated in a root certificate which is not
trusted by the trust provider. 0x800b0109 (-2146762487)." When I researched
the issue in Microsoft KB all I saw was if the error was displayed in Event
Viewer but the service could start. I ended up restoring from an old CA
backup and this seemed to fix it. What could possibly cause this error to
happen?
