When I hit certain websites, IE 6.0 return the message: "Common client
network proxy service" problem." The undlying message mention a ccProxy.exe
error. Then IE shuts down. After that I have access to webpages on my network
connection. But, I can still get mail. Help please!

Hi Mike :)

Do you have Norton on your system? ccProxy is part of Norton. Try tuning
off the Norton firewall and see if that helps.

Also...see the information here:
http://www.mcse.ms/archive62-2004-2-209022.html
It might help explain what is going on and why.

You might check with the folks at Symantec for more information.

Hope this helps.

ccProxy.exe is part of Norton AV or Norton Internet Security. See these
articles for possible help:

Cannot connect to the Internet after installing a Common Client program
update
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sharedtech.nsf/pfdocs/2005012115575213?Open

Error: "Symantec Network Proxy Service has encountered a problem and needs
to close"
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/pfdocs/2005042810581436?Open

Also, make sure you update your virus defs and run a full system scan if the
above doesn't work.
