CDRW vs. Combo CDRW/DVD

Ok, I have decided not to get a DVDRW at this point based on everyone's
advice because of the age of my PC. But, should I get a CDRW or should I
get a combo CDRW/DVD. Problem is the CDRWs specs are 52-32-52, whereas the
CDRWDVD is 48-24-48/16. Is the drop in performance and the *possible
complication of a multi-unit* a tradeoff worth taking? I am going to be
using the drive mostly for reading CDs, Backing up my PC, Burning CDs, and
occassionally *reading* DVDs, if I even can with my old system. (in the
order of application).
By the way, I am thinking of getting a LiteOn Drive, regardless of my
decision. Any other suggestions.

Also, anyone know of real good backup software for these CDRWs? I have
heard of Backup Now. Also, I think Nero Express comes with these drives but
it doesn't backup I do not believe.

They also have a 54x32x54 CD-RW

I don't believe you are going to be watching any DVD's on your system if it
has a 200MMX CPU and corresponding video card. Get the CD-RW. And hope for
the best...

Get the CDRW drive. You will be sorely frustrated trying to view DVDs on
your 200MHz PC.

Save your money and get separate DVD-ROM and DVD-RW drives for your new
computer.

Most weeks, you can get a 52x CDRW for as little as $20 AR.

Good choice. I bought a rebadged LiteOn 52x24x52x drive some months ago
for $20 AR--a steal at twice the price.

Nero is bundled with many drives today.

Both Nero Express and the full Nero UI do user backups. It would be rather
pointless if they did not, no?

LITE ON 48X/24X/48X CDRW +16X DVD W/Nero burning Software $51

It don't matter since these speeds started going above
24x there have been diminishing returns !

Plus on your 200mmx system you will probaly only be able
to burn 12x-16x max before the pc can't keep up.
