cdrw and I can't add to it!

I have a cdrw and cdrw media. I can write to it once but I can't add to it
using windows built in stuff. The dialog even says that I will overwrite
existing files if they are the same name, but when I proceed it tells me
that the disk is not a writable CD.
I can do it using Nero, but why won't the built in winXP writer work? It's
much more convienent.

The inbuilt burning is not really a CD-RW in the way Nero's InCD is; but
writes batches of files in sessions (like Nero proper). You can't
replace or delete files, if you add a second session a file in that will
be taken in precedence over one in an earlier session, but that is all.
And BTW adding session with that and with Nero may well fight; don't mix
the two systems

Think of it this way, the in built feature treats CR-RW as if they were
CD-R.
