For some reason I can't seem to open anything coming out of my cd-rom and the
dvd-rw rom. If I try to open the contents any disc contains other than
through "My Computer", then a blue screen appears freezing my Windows XP SP2
immediately. If I open a media player (iTune, WMP, or other), everything is
fine as long as I don't go near any cd rom icons or as long as the browsing
menu doesn't trigger an automatic refresh state of everything in site.
The error message goes something like this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent
damage to your computer.
CDFS_FILE_SYSTEM
Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0x00000026 [plus 4 more of these hexagonal coding in
parenthesis]
*** GEARAspiWDM.sys - Address F81B71D3 base at F81B6000, DateStamp
4147071e"
------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not a hardware issue, I know that much: I haven't installed any for the
longest time....the problem started appearing recently. I've fixed my PC a
couple of times, but this one has stopped me on dead on tracks...I would
really appreciated if someone knowledgeable knew how to deal with this to
help me out.
Thanks,
DigitalBIOS.
