.cda vs .wav

u need to use a program to rip the .wav content off of the
CD. wave files take up a lot of space. it's about 100
per min. (i think) wma would be a better choice or
windows media lossles audio. wma and lossless audio can
be ripped from within Windows Media Player 9. to rip the
wav u will need a third-party program such as MusicMatch
Jukebox

Yes, I know I can rip cd audio to my hard drive and get
a .wav file. But is there a way that I can have Windows
Explorer (XP) recognize the files as .wav and NOT .cda.
If you look at an audio CD in Explorer, all tracks
are .cda and all tracks show the same file size. Well if
you have different length (minute wise) tracks on a CD,
than how come Explorer sees them all the same file size?
Is it possible to see the raw data (.wav) and correct
file size in Explorer and NOT .cda?

nope, u have to rip it first. since the files on the cd
are not really wav files it can not be done. wav is just
the uncommpess audio data being ripped off the cd. so u
must rip the wav off the cd to do what u want
