CD Writing Wizard

Guest

I used top be able to copy files to CD by using CD Writing Wizard in Windows
XP. I installed some software, which apparently took over that function
(Sonic DLA). I then removed Sonic DLA, and now the CD Writing Wizard does
not come up, and when I try to copy file to a CD I get an error message that
says "E:/ is inaccessable" or something like that.

How do I get CD Writing Wizard back??? I can't find it anywhere, and a
search doesn't find it.

Try right clicking the drive..properties..recording tab and make sure
'Enable CD recording on this drive is checked'.

Hi KLE,

See if information in this article helps.

You can no longer access the CD drive or the DVD drive, or you receive an error message after you remove a CD recording program or a DVD recording program in Windows XP: "error code 31":

Thanks, but it didn't help. Sometimes the drive window will open, but never
the "what do you want to do" box. Now in the drive window "write to CD" is a
choice under cd writing tasks ...but I get the error message "Can not
complete the CD writing wizard".

Any other ideas?

Check this as well.

How to troubleshoot issues that occur when you write data to a CD-R or CD-RW optical disc in Windows XP:

And see if deleting the UpperFilters and LowerFilters registry entries help, as discussed in this article.

(Roxio is given an example. Might apply to Sonic DLA as well)

Checked the 1st link (Q324129) which seems to address the error "Error: Can not complete the CD writing wizard".

Error: Can not complete the CD writing wizard.

This error message may occur if the IMAPI CD Burner service is turned off. To resolve this issue, make sure that the service is running and that it has not been turned off. By default, the service is set to Manual. Start the IMAPI CD Burner service, and then test it by writing to a CD-R or a CD-RW. If the service works, you may have to set the service to Automatic if it does not start in Manual mode. To set the service to Automatic, follow these steps:

1.Click Start, click Run, type services.msc /s in the Open box, and then click OK.
2.Double-click IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service.
3.Under Service Status, click Start.
4.Try to write data to a CD.
