CD Writer File Dates

I am using windows xp pro
When I write data files to the CD writer, using xp - not a 3rd party
program, the date/time of the file is recorded as the time of writing - i
would like to preserve the file dates to be the same as they are on the HD
Is there a Registry Setting that i can change to enable this ?

I seem to remember it retains the dates if you zip them first.

get a real software for burning...like Nero, etc...
