hi,

i had XP, but lost it and had bought a floor model PC and
didn't have the reinstall disk, so i have a version of
Window2000 now, i need to upgrade now to XP, i used to be
able to click and drag a file or folder to my cd-rw drive
to copy on XP, but have tried everything on here to save
my files on disc and no luck, always says please insert
disk into drive E:. Any thoughts? And yes I am trying
the right drive and do have a blank CD in it.

Windows 2000 does not provide burning/cd writing software, you have to
provide it yourself.

Given the background you provided it sounds like you haven't installed
the correct drivers or set this system up. The version of Nero I have
doesn't support drag and drop. Does your version of Nero support the
CD-RW model you have? You may wish to check the drivers you installed
for the CD-RW also.

You need to install a CD-writing program which includes a packet-writing
software. Adaptec Easy CD Creator usually includes DirectCD in the package.
Nero may include InCD, which will do the same for you. These programs load
with Windows, and allow direct (drag-n-drop) writing to CD-RW.

.

You need a CD writing program like NERO BURNING ROM or
INCD. You can't drag and drop files onto a CD in Windows
2000 unless it is a RW CD (in which case you have to
format the CD using INCD before you use it).

Good luck
