CD-ROM stops working in the middle of a game

I have been having issue. When I start a game ( BF1942 )
it needs a CD to play it will work for awhile the all of
a sudden it stops. The OS ( XP Home ) says there is no CD
in the Drive please but the CD in and it ok and countune.
But the CD is in the CD-ROM. I never took it out or the
drive never opened the drawer. Can anyone help me on this
issue before I wipe and reload the PC. It happens off and
on. Sometimes it works for days other I have to reboot to
get the drive to work again. I have two CD-ROMs in the
system and the both do it. HELP!!
