CD rom drive

I recently had Windows XP installed and also had a new hard drive put in. I
have tried to install the "trial version" of Microsoft Small Business
Accounting 2006, but my CD rom won't read it. It's like the computer is not
recognizing the CD rom. When I go to "My Computer" I cannot find the disk I
put in. I have another old drive that is still on my computer, and when I
try to open a cd in it, it works. My cd will play music, but not read a
disk. Is there something maybe that was not set up right when the new hard
drive was put in? Thanks for the help.

If the cd was working prior to upgrade, and is now not working, then likely
they disturbed the cd cable

Thanks for the reply, but I have another hard drive which I'm going to
reformat soon, and the cd's work on it. Only on the xp it won't work.
Thanks again

Find the make and model of your CD-ROM and besure windows has the proper
drivers for it.

In addition, check the cableing, and be sure that your bios also recongnizes
the CD ROM drive properly when booting the computer
