CD Rom drive vanished from My Computer

I have laptop Acer Aspire 3690 and recently upgraded from WinXP to Vista.
Working fine until couple of days ago my CD Rom dirve vanished from My
Computer and message from device manager stating Code 19. I read other report
and understood that I need to download the CDgone registry file, which I did,
but have no idea where do I put the CDgone registry file to which folder in
my computer. Can anyone help or give me idea how to resolve my problem please.

If it is a true fix then just do a right click on the file and one of
the options will be to add it to the registry. If it is some wierd
file name it should have come with directions.

I don't know about the CDgone file, but the following link MAY provide a
solution. Follow the instructions on the following Microsoft article to
remove upper and lower filters:

Sometimes this solution works, but who knows until you try it. In addition,
some burner programs, such as Nero and/or iTunes/iPod have been known to
cause the problem you're having. Note in the Microsoft article that you may
need to reinstall a program, if that's what's causing the problem. Post back
on the results.
