CD ROM drive automatically shoots in & out

Was browsing on the internet about 2 weeks ago and downloading a couple of
softwares (saved the files on my pc for later installation) and had just
updated-via the internet- my windows xp about that period too, when all of a
sudden my cd rom drive tray just automatically shot out and closed up on its
own again(it was empty). this behavior has persisted and becoming a whole
nuisance. i have uninstalled suspected softwares but no difference, system
restored repeatedly yet no good pls what is going on and how do i solve
this?. this behavior persists even offline and also pre-dialling up ever
since. HELP!

thanks Bob I got the web site apparently it's one of the softwares I had
uninstalled thought it was part of the problem. so now I have a more
upgraded version. used it to clean out the system afresh. did not appear to
work immediately so downloaded another spy remover applied all three (IE
including what I had before) switched off my PC, retired to bed, woke up in
the morning and a whole world of difference. Thank you so much.
