cd rom bad memory

my cd rom has a bad block . the device 961, has bad
block, which windows attempted to read,. the data might
be missing or corrupted. after
re fomatting my extra slow xp, 2 months ago i have found
problems, with my floppy disk drive,not working most of
the time, and my cdrom does not work like it used to
either, i looked in the help and spport center, as i do,
and it suggests to do one or all of the following, retry
the operation, clean the physical hard drive,oruse newer
media, what do you guys suggest i do, what can i do to
get my xp windows working well again like it used to,
before it slowed down.

Maybe just start replacing things. New floppy drives are about $8 and CD-ROM
drives go for like $25... $35 or $45 if you want a nice combo/cd writeer/dvd
reader.
