CD reading

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro on my pc. When I put in some CDs they don't work. Any CD i burn on my XP computer using the "drag and drop"methond doesn't work on the 2000 computer. I hear the drive spinning but it says "Please insert a CD". I know the drive works because it can load other cds, like ones made in Nero and DVD's. I've updated everything from windowsupdate and nothing helps. Any idea's?

You might need a CD cleaning disk. The changeline switch in your drive is
not correctly noticing when you change disks.

Failing that, a new drive might be in order.

When you say Drag and Drop are you taking about a Rewriteable CD? If so a
regular CD Rom drive cannot read those. You will have to burn the CD and
close the session for a regular CD Rom to read it.

The cd was a CD-R and the drive i'm reading it on is a cd-r(w). The computer is fairly new but I'll try a cleaning cd, do you think a cd cleaner for xbox would work?

If it's NOT a CD-rw and you are doing "drag and drop" then you will have
to "close the session" before the 2000 pro PC is going to read it.
