CD-R won't open/read, W2K

First, my CD/RW/Burner drive is busted, that's another
matter. I am having to use my DVD-ROM as my default CD
tray.

Problem I'm having is my CD-R's will not open/read;
Properties show NO FREE/NO USED space, which is not true.
The drive shows the system drive letter like there isn't
even a disc in the tray. I can open a CD-RW and view it.

Thanks in advance!

Even though it's no longer "supposed" to be a
problem, some new optical drives STILL barf on
multisession CD-R's.

You may have one of them. Your symptoms
indicate a TOC the drive can't understand, which
would be concurrent with the multisession issue.

Get a different drive (a good Pioneer or something,
not one of those no-name Hushi-Gushi models) and
try that.
