CD DVD Not Working

Hey,

Since I installed Vista my CD/DVD drive was working and has stopped working.
When I go into Device Manager theres a message:

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be
corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

The Check For Solutions or Driver Update offer no solution. How Do I fix
this without having access to the CD?

Since I installed Vista my CD/DVD drive was working and has stopped
working.
When I go into Device Manager theres a message:

If it's a Liteon then Vista may have problems with it.
Returned the Liteon, got a refund, bought an LG
no more problems.
Tried Liteon support, useless.

Mike and All,

Many thanx for the assistance....one more question, if I may...in the text
the directions suggest modifying the registry, then rebooting. If successful
all is well but if not the instruction suggest:

If a CD recording program no longer works after you restart the computer,
you must reinstall the CD recording program

How does one "reinstall the CD recording program" if the drive isn't
working? Is this online someplace?
