CD copy is not the same

Maurice

Hello:
I've made a copy of a CD (using easy CD creator 6) containing a software,
which is installed by cliking on the setup.exe icon.
If I click on setup.exe in the copy one, nothing happened.
with explorer, the list of files is striclty the same on both CD.
is there something who is not copied with a CD copy?
(I also tried to make an ISO image using UltraIso, then burning, nothing
changed)

any trick?

Thanks
Maurice

Did you use the "Disc Copy" applet or do it from within Easy CD ?

Some CDs employ different forms of Copy Protection. Without
knowing what disc you're trying to replicate it's impossible to say if
a bit-by-bit copy will or will not work.

What CD did you copy? Many have copy protection to prevent specifically what
your trying to do.

Your CD would seem to be copy protected. There are various schemes for
achieving this, so any further speculation would be entirely that.

The answer to your question is therefore: yes - the copy protection scheme
did not get copied (obviously by design).

Second that.

The OP should probably search for a CD copying program that specifically
claims the ability to defeat copy-protection gimmicks.

In addition to a good CD copying program, the hardware can also
make a difference. Writers are rated by the "sheep" system. This
article will hint at the names of some of the methods used by copy
protection.

And in general, cdfreaks and cdrinfo, are good places
to learn about stuff like this.
