I've had a CD/DVD burner for over a year now and recently as of yesterday, I
am unable to burn anything. It has come to my attention that my burner has
been disabled. I've utilize XP wizard to enable it, but it will not. Is there
any other way around XP to enable this? This is odd considering I just used
it 2 weeks ago to save pics on a CD.

Can you see the drive in Explorer? Have you had any other CD burning
software on the machine?

Check here:
1. Open Admin tools>Services scroll down to IAMPI CD- Burning COM Service
This must be set to manual or automatic to be able to burn.

2. Open "My computer" and check the properties of the drive,be sure that
there is a checkmark in the box "enable burning on this drive" or wording to
that effect.

3. You have a bad burner?

I've had no other CD burning programs. I use to be able to see the drive on
My Computer along with my disk drive. Now it's gone. How do I check explorer
for my drive?

I'll try the first 2 options and let you know. As for the third, the burner
is fine. I just burned a CD 2 weeks ago with no problem. Could it be some
type of program installed recently that disabled it?

:

Do a search in the registry for upper filters, lower filters. See if
your drive is listed there. If it is, remove the value, not the key,
then restart. You should be able to see the drive in Explorer again.

How do I find the Admin tools section? How do I find the registry to search
for it?

:

Start, Run type: regedit and click OK.
Press the Home key once. Press Ctrl-F and type upperfilters and click OK
On the left side click once on the open folder. Click File, Export. Save
it to your Desktop as Filters.reg On the right pane, delete the
lowerfilers and upperfilters.
Restart.

I am confused. I have no idea what I'm looking for.

When I click on My Computer and right click on D:drive, click on properties
and it shows it on there. Windows is unable to enable it. There is a code 22.
My burner is Lite-On LTR-52246S. It says it could be causing a resource
conflict.
