I am trying to capture an avi file from tv turner card but windows wont
allow me to get more than 4GB of disk space. Can I fix this problem, i hear
it was something about fat32 and ntfs, but i am using a computer with NTFS
system files so i don´t know what the problem might be. Please help ,
Thanks.

Hi There,

I am not sure what you mean when you say "NTFS system files" The NT File
System is a structure that is imposed upon your hard drive, and is arrived
at by formatting the hard drive and at the commencement instructing the
program to use NTFS as opposed to FAT32 or any of the Linux formats. So
whilst it is true that there are routines within XP that recognize NTFS it
is also true that your system has Win32 routines.

If you click on My Computer > Manage > Storage > Disk Management, does it
say under the title "File System" NTFS ?

I said that because i read in a forum that sistems that run with NTFS are
able to capture unlimited amount of GB on hard disk but i can´t. I want to
found why this is happenig.

Hi there,

Yes it should be fine.

There is a rare condition related to the value "null" on NTFS systems. It is
related to the EOF marker and keeping it simple....if the "null" value is
read rather than some other value, NTFS will assume that it has reached the
EOF. I would say that it is possible but very unlikely.

I am not saying that the following are the cause of your trouble, but, Do
you have a multiple boot system and if so what software are you using to
manage the multiple boot, and although they should not be visible to XP, do
you have any drives or partitions that are formatted for any other OS,
Win16, Win32, Linux, OS2 ?? Did you upgrade to XP from any of the other
Operating systems? Have you run the Windows Update lately and installed all
updates available to you? Are you certain that you have sufficient disk
space to do the save...you should have at least twice the amount
available...so if you want to create a 4GB file you should have at least 8GB
free...that will accommodate any temporary files...some believe the amount
free should be even greater.

Basically what I am looking for is something that may have messed up your XP
environment.

I am about to hit the sack right now...so can't spend more time with you at
the moment...but, by the time I am next available, I bet someone else will
have answered/solved your problem

Hi again...last time tonight...:)

If you think there is any possibility that Adobe may not be functioning as
expected, give Movie Maker 2 a try...I have always found it to be very
reliable.

Goodnight...be back tomorrow!!

Ok thank you for your time.

My system is a clean new windows xp pro with all the updates and service
pack installed and running ok. The disck is 80% free about 45GB so it
should be enough. No multiple boot.Only one NTFS partition and no other
operating system running. I made windows installation into a new clean 50GB
disk ...

If any suggestion please tell me

exactly.

I use a windows xp over a new disk of 50GB ,about 45GB free . Only one OS
installed . No multiple boot obviously and all patched and updates
installed. No problems working . must be something like a wrong information
that makes window thinks that it is a 32FAT system , i supouse but i am not
too wise in computer science so if you have time and find something that
might help please tell me , thanks for your time. JC
