Can't view the computer list in remote domain

Dear ALL,

My company have 2 domains (a.com and b.com).
From a.com network, i can use \\computerA to open the shared files of a
computer in b.com domain.

But from b.com network, i use \\computerB to open the shared folders of a
computer in a.com domain, i get error "network path not found".

Also when i open "My network place" at a computer in b.com domain, there is
a icon of a.com. but when i click into it, i get error "a.com is not
accessible. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available"

i have checked the DNS ans WINS server. There are records for all computers
in a.com domain.

Please help me to fix this problem

Thanks a lot

You need to read about the browsing service and how to troubleshoot it.
You will look for an old res kit tool called browstat.

Overall, if I recall, Microsoft never did actually support browsing, it
was just something that was there and sometimes did and sometimes didn't
work.

Have you tried accessing the FQDN of each machine?

ex. \\computera.a.com\
\\computerb.b.com\

If your DNS is properly configured that should work, where the \\computera\
attempt fails. In a 2000 or newer environment, that's the better way to go
anyways since everything relies on it anyways.

If that doesn't work, you should work on getting it to. In a typical
scenario with two domains like this, I recommend setting up a secondary zone
for b.com in a.com's DNS server and vice versa. Setting up WINS to pass the
machine's NETBIOS names is an exercise I wouldn't even enter into unless it
was critical to the business.

If you need more detailed help than this, post back with the results of the
FQDN test.
