can't view microsoft word 2003

when I open microsoft word 2003, word appears on toolbar but I can't view it.
All I see is my desk top. I tried restoring word but it appears to go to
the left of my desktop and I still can not view it. Please help. Thanks in

While Word is open in that state, also open one other program -- it
doesn't matter which one -- then right-click the taskbar and choose
either of the two Tile options. That will force each program to take
half of the screen. You can then close the other program and resize
the Word window as desired.
