Can't use Copy in sender's message

In Outlook 2007 when I receive a message I often want to copy something from
the sender and paste into a database. I used to be able to copy in the
sender's message. In 2007 I get a hand cursor and it won't allow me to
highlight and copy. Instead I have to hit Reply and then I can copy. I
waste a lot of time having to hit reply and then copy. I have searched
Outlook Help multiple times to no avail.

Sounds like you're in Panning Mode.

Click on the Panning Hand above the right scroll bar in the message to turn
in off again or click in the message and press Escape on your keyboard to
exit Panning Mode.
