Can't upgrade from XP Home SP2 to XP Pro because my version is newer!

Can't wipe machine and start again - it's working OK as it is, but I thought
the copy of Pro I bought a few years ago was going to waste on the shelf.

So what can I do? just give it to a friend or something?

I'm just wondering why home won't upgrade to pro....

As long as you've got a "Retail" full or upgrade CD, you need
to create what's called a "slipstreamed" XP Pro installation
CD. Here are a few web sites that will explain the process a
whole lot better than I could in this forum.

Create a Slip Stream version of Windows XP
http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/slipstream.htm

Here are some of the files you'll need to obtain in order to
follow this procedure:

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT
Professionals and Developers

AutoStreamer 1.0.33

CDBurner XPPro

Here's another article that you may find helpful with this
issue:

How to use AutoStreamer to Slipstream Windows XP Service Pack 2

Good luck

You can SLIPSTREAM the XP you have with SP2

google those keywords and you will find guides and programs that can do it.
