Can't unset password

I have followed every step in on-line help to open the
database exclusively. When I try to unset the password, I
am still getting the message telling me to open the
database for exclusive use.

I am getting frustrated....

You should
Open Access
Use File, Open
In the dialog, select your mdb file
In the right, click on the Open dropdown and choose Open Exclusively

If that doesn't work, try creating a desktop shortcut with the following
target and use that to open your database.
"path to msaccess.exe" "path to mdb" /excl

If that doesn't work, is this database secured via user level security? Do
you have permission to open it exclusively?
