can't uninstall

Hi, I can't uninstall Google Earth or Google Sketch up. I get the message
when I try:
Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience.

I have tried reinstalling but it tells me that I already have the program.
When I try to open it gives me the message that it has to close. What now?

Hi

If you're really in a loop there, you could easily delete the files from
where they were installed the first time, then try to reinstall and see
if you're again told you already have the program. If you are, you may
need to do a search in your registry for any evidence of the programs
initial installation and delete your findings.

Sooner or later you'll destroy the offending program and be able to
accomplish the reinstall. Don't do any guessing in the registry!

If all else goes to hell, contact Google for advise. It's sort of like
you've probably already heard, try everything you can, then read the
directions.

Hi Maeve,

I noticed that Jim provide excellent suggestions. I'd like to suggest you:

First , I suspect you installed the two apps for all users. Therefore, you
can create a new user account with Administrative privilege to uninstall it.

Create another new user profile to test
1. Log on as the Administrator or as a user with administrator credentials.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Click User Accounts.
4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Advanced.
5. In the left pane, click the Users folder.
6. On the Action menu, click New User.
7. Enter the appropriate user information, and then click Create.
8. Logon with the new user account to see if the issue occurs in the user
profile.

Second, we may start the problematic computer in safe mode to see if this
issue occurs. The steps to boot into safe mode are as below:

Safe Mode loads a minimally protected-mode configuration, disabling Windows
device drivers and using the standard VGA display adapter.

1. Restart the computer.
2. Keep pressing F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.
3. Choose the Safe Mode with Network, and press Enter.

Note: Some third party applications and some hardware device cannot be used
during Safe Mode. You will temporarily be unable to connect to the Internet
temporarily while in Safe Mode.

At last, Since this issue may relate to google,, I¡¯d like to recommend you
work with the google for assistance with this. Please understand that we
don¡¯t have environment to reproduce and troubleshoot your issue, but
please feel free to involve me during the process of contacting the
manufacture support, I am glad to provide any information.

Thanks for understanding.

Best regards,

Vincent Xu
